Problem
Where Timeline Planning Breaks Down
Most timeline failures are predictable and preventable. Three problems appear consistently:
- ⏱️Sample cycle is not factored into the timeline
Use the stated 7–14 business day sample window and the confirmed production quotation as separate planning inputs. Include written approval time and a route-specific freight and customs estimate. Confirm the complete delivery schedule for the proposed order; a sample or production window does not guarantee warehouse arrival.
- 📦MOQ confusion, stock ribbon, printed ribbon, and pieces are different
Plain stock ribbon starts from 1,500 yards per color. Printed ribbon programs start from 3,000 yards per design. Ready-made bows, award ribbons and sash products start from 1,000 pieces per style. Confirm the product type before using MOQ in a quote.
- 🚢Shipping method not selected early enough
Ask the forwarder to quote the actual route, freight method, chargeable weight, customs and local-delivery assumptions. Compare current sea and air quotations during order planning. Fixed transit windows and a universal freight-cost multiple are not established by this page.
What Goes Wrong
How These Three Problems Compound
Each failure builds on the last. A program that enters production with any of the three unresolved typically ends with emergency freight or a missed season.
FirstSample cycle missed, deadline already unreachable
Program launched 8 weeks before the event date. Sampling alone takes 3 weeks. Production hasn’t started. The math fails from day one, and no one has said so yet.

ThenMOQ misread, budget shortfall at order stage
A stock ribbon program, printed ribbon program, and sash program were priced from the same MOQ assumption. The quote has to be rebuilt because each product type starts from a different minimum.

ResultSea freight window gone. 5× air freight bill or cancelled program
Production completes at week 11. Sea freight adds 4 more. Event is past. Air freight costs 5× sea rate. Or the program is cancelled and the deposit is at risk.

Below MOQ: orders under these quantities are still possible and carry a one-time setup charge. The amount depends on product type and print method, and is confirmed with your quotation.

Full Program Timeline: RFQ to Shipment
The table below shows the complete timeline for a custom ribbon program from RFQ submission to shipment completion. All stages are sequential, no stage can be skipped.

Seasonal programs (Q4 holiday delivery) require order placement by late July for October arrival. Contact us with your event date or delivery deadline and we build the schedule backward at RFQ stage.
